CONCERT 17
BATTLE OF THE SEXES

Three delicious moments in opera history

In Monteverdi’s Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda, two lovers (Taryn Fiebig and David Greco) are unwittingly pitted against one another on the battlefield. The domestic battlefield of La serva padrone by Pergolesi tells the story of a maid scheming against her master only to end up as mistress! The evening’s final statement comes from Monteverdi’s heartfelt Lettera amorosa, performed solo by the inimitable Marco Beasley.
