Bio

Aarón Zapico is one of the conductors to have made the greatest impact on the Spanish music scene over the last few years. The key to his success can be found in his elegant, resilient interpretations with their varied and nuanced dynamics, as highlighted by the specialised music critics. He is constantly present in leading important symphonic orchestras, specialised groups and his own ensemble, Forma Antiqva.

At present, his work is focused on recovering the Spanish musical heritage, chamber music with great solo artists, leading orchestral and vocal projects, a stable trio with his brothers and even on making frequent incursions into contemporary music and projects that combine different artistic disciplines. His recordings as a solo artist and conductor have been nominated for the International Classical Music Awards on several occasions and obtained maximum recognition from European critics.

He has worked as a professor at the conservatories of Murcia and Oviedo, and a guest professor in universities, giving courses, talks, lectures and master classes all over Spain as well as in Panama, Costa Rica, Australia and Singapore. As a result of his restless, committed and entrepreneurial spirit, he has founded associations and platforms to protect musicians’ rights, social and charity projects in which music is an integrating element, as well as the first early music competition in Spain. Despite his youth, over the course of his career he has been awarded several prizes and received a great deal of recognition.

Aarón Zapico is a member of the jury for the Princess of Asturias Awards for the Arts.
